If the Shoe Fits, Buy It! Harajuku Lovers patch pump
I know that these heels are wild, but what else would you expect from Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line? I would love these paired with a little black dress and a green or yellow clutch, or with an LBD and a big, beaded statement necklace. These d'Orsay pumps also come in a metallic gold/silver stripe.

Feed Me Now! Sambuca
Sambuca
Location: Hillcrest
Prices: Inexpensive to moderate - try this place on a Monday, when all pasta dishes are only $10.95 if you order a beverage (except the one I ordered, of course, which was $12.95)
Good for: A quick but filling weekday dinner
Pros: Wide selection of tasty pasta dishes in the primi section
Cons: It is across the street from Urban Mo's, so don't sit on the patio if you are looking for a quiet meal - you can definitely hear hooting and hollering (but this could also be a pro if you are looking to go for drinks after dinner!)
Ratings and Recommendations:
8/10 - Free bread - I know this is not that exciting, but the bread was fresh from the oven... it was so warm and cozy that I ate a whole basket. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar that they provided to dip it in tasted a little off, though.
9/10 - Calamari provinciale - strips of calamari in a roasted garlic, tomato, tarragon, and vodka sauce. This was super delicious! The calamari was tender and there were big chunks of tomato in the delectable sauce. Definitely save some bread to dip into the sauce if you order this appetizer.
7/10 - Black linguine with seared lobster and jumbo shrimp in a chopped tomato, roasted garlic, and fresh basil sauce. The black linguine was flavored with squid ink, and was the perfect al dente texture. It was not too fishy, as a squid ink dish sometimes is, and the linguine had a great, hearty flavor. The lobster and shrimp were cooked well, and the sauce was tasty but not very exciting. All in all, it was a satisfying dish - but I wouldn't run back tomorrow to order it again (like I SO would with the gnocchi at Cucina Urbana).
Notes: I was overcharged for my meal ($17.95 instead of $12.95), but they were pretty quick to correct it. Five dollars can buy me a burrito, so you better believe I said something.

Throwback - Kid Sister & My Buddy
I never wanted one of these... probably because I had my own real kid brother and sister, and that was quite enough for me!

Monday Nunday
Punching nun:
True nun story:
Earlier this year I saw two nuns at the Coach store stocking up on goodies. They waited in a long line and then made their purchases, all while dressed in their full habits. I guess God appreciates a nice handbag as much as the rest of us.
Nun chuck catapult:
Nun joke:
Two foreign nuns have just arrived in the U.S. and one says to the other, "I hear that the people of this country actually eat dogs." "Odd," replied her companion, "but if we shall live in America, we might as well do as the Americans do." Nodding emphatically, the mother superior points to a hot dog vendor and they order two hot dogs. The vendor wraps both dogs in foil and hands them over the counter. Excited, the nuns hurry to a bench and begin to unwrap their dogs. The mother superior is the first to open hers. She begins to blush and then, staring at it for a moment, leans to the other nun and whispers cautiously, "What part did you get?"
