Starlite Lounge
Location: Mission Hills
Prices: Excellent - during happy hour, three of us shared a bottle of Prosecco and three small plate dishes for about $45 total... wow!
Good for: Hipster happy hour, dinner for two to four
Pros: A perfect blend of old-timey loungy atmosphere with a modern twist, attentive service, interesting signature cocktails (like the Starlite Mule, made with vodka, ginger beer, lime, and bitters), good food
Cons: Very small parking lot, can get a little loud in the main room as it fills up, if you sit facing the entry portal it can be bright and hard to see
Ratings and Recommendations:
9/10 - Artichokes and goat cheese on Con Pane grilled bread - incredibly simple, but incredibly delicious. Pure, fresh, and tasty.
6/10 - Mac & cheese - good breadcrumb topping, and comes out sizzling hot, but lacking the true cheesiness I require in a stellar rendition
8/10 - French fries with garlic mayonnaise - skinny, salty fries with seriously amazing mayo for dipping
Notes: I have not yet tried the outside seating, it could have a different vibe. I have also been instructed that I should include a disclaimer that I do not eat meat, so my restaurant reviews may not be generally applicable. However, I do still visit meat-centric restaurants and go out with people who eat meat, so I will include their opinions on meat-related dishes.
