Ratings and Recommendations:
8/10 - Flowering arugula and beet salad with red carrots and fried duck egg - Beets are one of my favorite foods, and these beets were absolutely mouthwatering... I even tried the fried duck egg because it looked so tasty, though I have long had an irrational fear of both duck eggs and fried eggs.
9/10 - Fresh linguine with artichoke calendula marinara, herbs and garlic - This dish was spectacular. The tomatoes in the marinara were rich, dark, and sweet - perfectly balancing the sharp flavor of the artichokes and the al dente fresh herbed pasta.
8/10 - Wild mushroom ragu with roasted fingerling potatoes and lentils - This was sooo delicious... fork-tender potatoes were mixed with lentils and a peppery mushroom ragu. It probably deserves a rating of 9/10 but there were too many gd flowers all over it. Pretty, yes, but I don't like anything getting between me and my food.
7/10 - Chili spiced grits in squash blossoms - The mildly spicy grits were well-cooked and very tasty, but I could not really tell what the squash blossoms were supposed to add the dish.
10/10 - Honey verbena lemon drop made with sweet potato vodka - I had one sip of this cocktail and immediately ordered a whole carafe. Heaven.
Notes: Spread the love! The menu changes daily, based on the available produce at local farmer's markets. This place is tiny and it really filled up after 7:30. My only warning is to be careful when you order - my friend and I thought that we were just dicussing the menu with the server/owner as we waited for our other dining companion, but he placed our orders based on the conversation. Luckily, she liked the dishes that we accidentally chose!
